Leveling Guide

Below is an improved version of my old guide which can be found here. I wanted to expand more on when and where to level for each type of leveling you are doing - be it aoe parties, duo/trio/etc. parties, or soloing. Please note that though I am not a soloer, I am trying to collect data as to where is best to solo at for each level bracket. If you are a pure soloer (meaning no support partner and no nurse sara) and have found good areas for solo play, please let me know.

Here is a break-down of the guide. Use Ctrl+F to jump to a specific section.

V. Leveling Tips for New Players

I. Early Leveling 1-15

Levels 1-7 can be obtained quickly by simply completing the tutorial. If you only kill the minimum 5 pupus and flying pupus, you will not be level 7 (around 5 or 6 instead), but if you kill 24 of each - which is the max you can kill, after 24 they stop spawning - then you will not only be level 7 by the time you leave the tutorial, but you should have around 800g - which is enough to buy a new beginner weapon if you so choose.
Levels 7-10 are also quick and easy to obtain. There is a quest you can do known as Finding Cats and Dogs, which you can do for an easy level (or most of one - it gives a LOT of exp). You can also do quests obtained from the Eversun Guide - the tour quest is really easy since it is just running around the city talking to NPC's. You can also go to either Eversun North or Eversun South and kill mobs (I recommend Baby Bow-Wows because they drop Hemp Rope which you will need to get into the Well later)
Once you reach level 10, you can start doing job qualifications to unlock new jobs (classes) and start leveling. Each job starts at level 10 and has its own separate stats (so you don't have to worry about putting points into certain stats as a commoner). If you ever need to reset your stats or skills, you can do so for free up to level 15 at the Dojo in Eversun City via the Naturally-Gifted Man. Note that Commoners cannot reset their skills this way, only their stats.
Levels 10-15 can be spent either in Swan Lake Basin (do the repeatable quests for the Lil' Dairy Pus and Pure White Pupus there), The Well (you need to do the entrance quest to get in which requires 5 hemp rope), or Town Hall Basement (you will need to do a few Mirror Quests to get in). At level 15 you can learn to fly by killing the Flying Frog King in Swan Lake Basin (north) and returning the powder he drops to Randy Charleston in Eversun City.

II. Party Leveling

A. Types of Parties

1. AoE Parties

AoE parties are the most popular way to level in DOMO. These parties involve a full party of 6 consisting of a tank, a musician, a doctor, a puller, and 2 aoe jobs. In an AoE party, the puller "pulls" mobs to where the tank and the rest of the party is standing, and the aoes use their area of effect skills on the mobs while the tank holds the aggro of the mobs. The doctor heals everyone and the musician uses their short duration buffs to buff the party (most importantly the party's MP regen). For more info on AoE parties, visit my Guide to AoE Parties

2. Duo/Trio Parties

Duo/Trio parties are simply 2-3 players leveling together. Typically this includes one or more people as the damage dealer (DPS) and another as the support (healing/buffing). Small parties like this allow people to kill harder mobs than they would normally be able to solo.

3. Non-Traditional Parties

Non-Traditional parties pretty much encompasses any other types of parties you will come across. This can include any party consisting of 4 or more members. A full team of 6 who is not aoeing would be considered a non-traditional party.

B. When & Where to do AoE Parties

Casks (Levels 15-22) Caskmasters are a mob found in the Inn Basement (you will need to do a quest to get into this zone, or have one of your team members lead you in.) The stairs around where the Caskmasters spawn can be a bit glitchy (try turning off ASWD movement and use click-movement instead while traversing stairs here), and people have been known to die because of them, so use caution. The exp from casks is extremely fast until 22, though you can stay longer (it starts to slow down at 20, but it is still good exp for a while after that). The absolute latest I would recommend staying here would be 25 (and that's only if you are extremely determined or if mbops is full).
MBoPs (Levels 20-30) Male Birds of Paradise are a mob found in Phoenix Tower (north side of Swan Lake Basin) and are located on the 3rd floor of the tower. There are really only 2 good spots for mbops and one okay spot - the main circular room with only mbops spawned is vip and is generally shared by two teams. A team can also be in the hallway, though this is less preferred since there is a smaller number of mobs. If all three of these spots are taken, people can try to brave the FBoPs (Female Birds of Paradise) who are magic attack and will tear your tank apart with his low magic defense. You can also try the first or second floor of the tower (first floor has just papa birds and eggs - and there is an egg quest obtainable at the entrance). Some people only stay here from 20-25, though exp doesn't really start to slow down here until 28 (and you can stick it out until 30 if you want to - if you have vip mbops I definitely recommend this if possible).
Nept (Levels 22-33) Probably the most versatile and annoying zone - Neptune's Temple. Nept is located in Swan Lake Basin (you will need to fly to get there as it is an island). There are only a few good spots to level that wont make you want to tear your hair out. At 22 you can start getting exp from the Crimson Glob quest (globs are located near the entrance - 2-3 teams can party here). If you can get it, vip is located further back and is a room where only Man-Eating Zombies spawn (no turtles). Turtles are the bane of Nept as they are not only magic attack but have an aoe attack which prevents people from sitting to regain mana. Doctors attempting any area with turtles are advised that they NEED the skill Greater Healing (obtained at 24) in order to keep up with the heals required. If you are at vip zombies, you can stay until 30 before exp starts to get bad, though you can stick it out until 33.
Grizz (Levels 28-37) Grizzly Garrison is another dangerous area, but one that is great exp for certain levels. It is located in Copperhorn Mountains. The mobs here hit hard, so be very careful when moving around. There are two different ways you can do aoe parties at grizz - one being the typical aoe grind down in the basement (vip hallways - you will need to have done the quests in grizz to access the basement, or have a teammate bring you in). The other is a quest spam up on the first floor. There are several rooms across from the quest NPC at the entrance where aoe parties are typically found. Try and be respectful of other parties while doing quest spams during turn-ins (don't take another team's spot just because they left to go turn in quests). The Thug quest is the one done most often, but grab the Chef quest as well even though you wont be able to turn it in as often as the other one.
Grotto (Levels 33-42) Pandora's Grotto is located in Blakatoa, and is another dangerous party area (though it should be noted that since aoe areas are considered dungeons, that they are all fairly dangerous). There are several spots here to do aoe parties at, the most popular being the room with only Fugitives (fugis - this is vip). If that is taken, there are alternatives such as spugi (Spider Spectres/Fugitives), wolves (War Wolves/Fugitives), or pure spiders. Be careful of the fugi boss that spawns at the top of the stairs leading down into spugi area as he is high level and hits very hard (he is also a vengeance boss, so he will spawn quite often). The stairs leading down there can get glitchy too just like the ones in the Inn Basement, so be careful going down them (especially if the boss is on your tail). You can stay here until 40 before exp starts to get really bad, but if you're determined, you can stick it out until 42.
Foggy (Levels 38-52) Foggy Forest is probably the place you will stay in the longest out of every area. You will have to do the quests in Blakatoa to unlock most of foggy, or have a teammate bring you in. The absolute lowest I would recommend is 38 or 39 (and only if you are a muse really), though most people stay in grotto until 40 before coming to foggy. Most people stop foggy at 50, but with the lack of high level maps, people have been known to stay a bit longer depending on the levels of the other members (making sure there is no level gap). There are several places to party in foggy itself, though you will only be killing Iron Hedgehogs no matter what spot you're in. There is 2way, 3way, pond, and vip. 3way can be split between 2 teams if necessary (vip probably could as well, but it's generally not done).
TGT (Level 50+) Town-God Temple (or Hell) is one of a few places to go after foggy to level. From what I understand, the higher level people need to literally leech exp off of the lower level people in the party for this to work for leveling. It is extremely terrible exp and should only be done if you literally have no other options. The entrance to Town-God Temple is in East Sea Plains, and can only be entered at night (either 18:00-6:00 or 6:00-18:00 depending on your time group). After level 50, the more traditional AoE parties tend to taper off and you're kinda left with duo/trio parties or soloing for the most part.

C. When & Where to do Duo/Trio/Non-Trad Parties

Dungeon-type areas like CC, FFC, Inn, etc. are going to be faster exp than normal field maps, so go there whenever possible. Typical rule of thumb is to go wherever someone your level would go to aoe party, but fight lower level mobs (sometimes even the same mobs) just on 1v1 instead of aoe. Quests are also a good way to level if you aren't doing aoe parties, as most are repeatable and easy to finish.
Levels 15-20 can be spent either in Placid Plain doing Raymond's repeatable moth quest, Canute Canal on Male Vampire Bats, Farrel Family Crypt, or the Inn Basement.
Levels 20-25 you can stay in Placid Plain and continue on to other of Raymond's quests, or try Phoenix Tower, Neptune's Temple, or Canute Canal.
Levels 25-30 you can head over to Giantwood Forest, or stay in Phoenix Tower or Neptune's Temple.
Levels 30-35 can be spent in Giantwood Forest, Grassgreen Square, Neptune's Temple, Grizzly Garrison, or Pandora's Grotto.
Levels 35-40 you can try Grassgreen Square, Blakatoa, Grizzly Garrison, Pandora's Grotto, East Sea Plain, or even the first couple floors of Foggy Forest.
Levels 40-45 would be good in Foggy Forest or East Sea Plain.
Levels 45-50 I would recommend either staying in Foggy Forest, or trying Blakatoa Peak or Canute Canal II.
Levels 50+ Dragon's Den is gonna be your new home for the foreseeable future.

III. Solo Leveling

A. Soloing With Nurse

1. About the Nurse

The Nurse Sara Sweetheart is an eggsploiter pet that is only available as a temporary pet item (comes in 1 Day, 7 Days, or 30 Days) and is purchasable from the Item Mall or from other players. Basically the nurse is a personal support machine. She will heal your HP and MP as well as give you doctor buffs somewhat comparable to your level (they are a little lower than normal doctor buffs would be at your level - my guess in an attempt to make them less OP), and they also consume frogs when casting their buffs (just like doctors do, but they require more). They are whatever level you are when you summon them (up to a maximum level of 60) and can be attacked and killed. The only way to heal them is with pet items (they are not affected by pet muse skills) so keep a few on hand just in case. They do have a one hour cooldown and they also last for one hour - but they will disappear if you zone or logout, so only summon one if you plan to be there for at least an hour.
Nurse Saras make soloing a lot easier, and allow a soloer to go places where they would normally need a duo support partner to be in safely (e.g. dungeon areas) and without having to drag doctor subs along. Some people claim that they make soloing so easy that parties are useless, but I beg to differ - most people don't like to solo because they find it boring. This is a social game after all.

2. Should I Get a Nurse?

Since Nurse Saras are extremely expensive, you really should think before you go out and buy one. To determine if you should spend the effort/money getting a nurse, you should first ask yourself "Am I an avid soloer?" "Do I prefer soloing to teaming?" "Do I have several jobs at 50+?" These are all things you should take into account before deciding to buy a nurse. I would only recommend buying one if you are more of a soloer than a team player, because with your nurse you will be able to solo a lot more easily - which wouldn't matter much if you don't plan on soloing a lot. If you prefer to team rather than solo, I recommend you find a duo support partner to accompany you on your leveling adventures past foggy. If you have several jobs over 50 and either don't like to party with others or can't ever seem to find a duo partner, then I would recommend a nurse.
All-in-all it is your decision when it comes to buying or not buying a nurse. They are extremely useful, but they are not required by any means. You can solo just fine without a nurse, but you will have to choose more carefully where you solo. If you do decide to get a nurse, you can follow the same guide for Duo/Trio leveling because essentially you are duoing with your nurse, even if she isn't an actual player.

B. Soloing Without Nurse

Soloing without a nurse really speaks for itself - you are just soloing. You have nothing and no one to help you except your subs, your items, and your wits. Obviously an autoloot party is essential, but that doesn't count as an actual party (though if you find talkative people, it can be a good way to make new friends). Good subs are a must for the soloer - doc subs are a must if you are going without a nurse (you need to keep yourself healed!). For your other subs, you can go pet heals (if you so choose to bring a pet on your adventures), thief subs (premonition and control breathing are extremely useful, or you can even sub the sneak attack tree for pilfer and fast getaway), blademaster buffs (burning rage, lash out, and even focus are all great buffs to have), or some even go hunter buffs or witch doctor (when it's released). MP regen is all well and good, but if you are soloing you can feasibly sit whenever you want, so I wouldn't waste a sub slot on cataclysmic converter or spring cleaning. I would however recommend getting doctor to 33 for inner magic - great skill and it uses the same skill tree as your heal and regen which you should already be using! Now that you have some good subs under your belt, let's get soloing!

 C. When & Where to Solo

Levels 15-20 should be spent in Placid Plain doing the Toxic Tiger Moth repeatable quest that Raymond gives, or you can try your luck in Farrel Family Crypt or the Inn Basement (though I would be very careful at those last two places - take doc subs for sure).
Levels 20-25 you can stay in Placid Plain and stick with the Toxic Tiger Moths for a couple more levels, or try the Noddy Stones (Raymond has a quest for those as well). You can also try Canute Canal or Phoenix Tower if you are careful.
Levels 25-30 you can try floor 2 of Phoenix Tower if you're careful, as well as Placid Plain some more (moving on to higher level mobs like the bow-wows and pupus), or try Neptune's Temple on Crimson Globs (there is a repeatable quest for those you can technically get exp from at 22). You can also try Giantwood Forest, but I would be careful there as well.
Levels 30-35 you can try Giantwood Forest, which is probably safer at this level, or Neptune's Temple (you can even go further back into the safe room and go to the next floor where there are King Globs and Ice Zombies). You can also try Grassgreen Square if you are careful.
Levels 35-40 you can try Grassgreen Square, World of Pandora's Box (you will need to do quests to get in there), Grizzly Garrison if you're careful, or Blakatoa (while you're there maybe do the quests to get into Foggy Forest). You could try Pandora's Grotto, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Levels 40-45 you can stay in World of Pandora's Box, or try Pandora's Grotto or Foggy Forest if you're careful, or East Sea Plain.
Levels 45-50 you can stay in Foggy Forest, or head over to Canute Canal II or Blakatoa Peak if you're careful. You can also try Town-God Temple, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Levels 50+ Dragon's Den is the most popular place to frequent starting at level 50, not sure how easy it is to solo though. Sticking to Town-God Temple (Hell) or Blakatoa Peak might be safer if you have just hit 50. Mount Babel and Sneaky Peak are other good high level maps. I'll update this further when I have more info as my highest has been at 50 for 2+ years.

IV. Spooky Bottom

If you have money to spare and want to level extremely fast, then Spooky Bottom is the place for you! Spooky Bottom (or SB as it is sometimes called) is an instance accessible through an NPC in Eversun City named Clever King's Secretary (X:257 Y:202 located ontop of the Planetarium). In order to access this special instance, you will need a Token of Clever King - these are items which are obtainable through the Item Mall or other players and can last anywhere from 30 mins to several hours depending on which one you get. As soon as you use the item, you will be given a buff which will gain you access to Spooky Bottom and all it has to offer.
The Benefits to Leveling in Spooky Bottom:
  • All mobs have their experience doubled!
  •  None of the mobs drop gemstones, so your inventory stays clean!
  •  You can create separate mini-instances within the zone so you will always have a spot!
  •  There are mobs of all levels, so you can just keep leveling!
The lowest level mobs are Caskmasters, so you can go there as early as 15 if you are part of a team and get the fastest exp possible. It is also a great place for powerleveling as it is not overly crowded (and even if it is, you can make your own instance!). There is also a crystal at the entrance you can use to teleport to certain mobs rather than walk (and this crystal is also used to create those separate mini-instances). There are also NPC's located throughout the zone for you to sell/repair at.

V. Leveling Tips for New Players

Keep your armor in mind when figuring out which monsters to kill. For example, if you are a light armor or heavy armor wearing class, you will want to stay away from shaman/wizard monsters. Likewise if you are a robe or dancer's costume wearing class, you will actually want to fight shaman/wizard monsters if you can. Robes and dancerwear have the highest magic defense of all the armors, so you will take very little damage from magic mobs while wearing this (and take a LOT of damage from these monsters if you are wearing any other type of armor - especially heavy armor). You can figure out what a monster's class is by clicking on the monster (be sure to be far enough away that you wont accidentally attack them) and hovering your mouse over the target bar. You can also see the monster's element this way.
Use elements to your advantage whenever possible. To figure out what element beats what, you can check the DOMO Wiki's page about elements here. This is most useful to fencers and shamans who have a large variety of elemental spells at their disposal. It is also useful if you have multiple pets and want to know which pet would be better against the mob.
Try to stick to "dungeon" maps if you can, but be extremely careful when soloing. These dungeon maps have boosted experience gain, but are also more dangerous. Mobs here are always aggressive and hit much harder and have more hit points than mobs you will find out in field maps. Another downside to dungeon maps, however is that they tend to be extremely crowded. If you don't want to party with others and don't feel like fighting over leveling space, you should probably stick to field maps and ride out the slower exp rate.
Hope you enjoyed my guide and found it useful. If you have any suggestions on solo areas for pure soloers (soloers with no nurse), please leave it in the comments below.

  5. Thanks, wasn't sure where to go to level after unlocking some jobs. This helped. Especially because you're offline and I can't ask you in person. Love, your IRL bestie.
